Herbal Cancer Treatment and Toxins

October 31st, 2008

We know there are many ways one can help themselves when battling cancer. Turning to a herbal cancer treatment is one way to help your body recover, eliminating toxins is another. Read further to find out what else you can do for yourself.

When we look at all the alternative treatments available in the natural realm they generally point to the immune system. A system that is always on guard for fighting viruses and toxins has been weakened. Chemicals that we have never been exposed to before are in the air, water and food. This has overwhelmed our defenses and allowed cancer to run wild. Here are some types of toxic buildups we are experiencing:
Cellular - excess acids in the blood system shutting off toxins in the cell. Chemical – overload the immune system and other organs that filter our system. Colon buildup – a vicious circle where undigested foods get recirculated and burden the total toxin removal process. Chlorinated water - drinking this water risks a 90% higher chance of cancer. Chlorine is used not because it makes water cleaner, it’s cheaper. The french use ozonate to cleanse their water.

Just as a car has a weight load capacity, our body’s have a toxin load capacity and it seems society is hitting it right now. Herbal cancer treatments for these toxins is one way of taking the load off your cleansing and immune systems. A diet leaning to more alkaline foods, doing a colon cleansing every so often and drinking unchlorinated water can all aid in you helping your body unload some of the damage.

Just drinking distilled water with a PH level of 7.0 will clean your kidneys and help balance your pH levels, this will help with an acidic system. Simple small changes can add up to big help.

Did You Know That Dentists Can Use Social Media in a Variety of Ways to Grow Their Businesses?

October 29th, 2008

At last, dentists are slowly coming to terms with the ultimate truth: internet marketing and social media are here to stay. They’re not just a fad as many of us would like to believe and social media isn’t going away as many of us have convinced ourselves it will. Many dental practices now have a website, and most dental professionals understand the importance of having their practices found on the web. Unfortunately, having a website is where most dentists stop with their internet marketing efforts and the concept of social media and internet marketing to many is overwhelming at best, terrifying at worst.

Why? Because most dental professionals do not realize how simple it can be to dramatically increase their internet presence. Most dentists can’t begin to understand that managing social media isn’t nearly as complex as it seems. In the wake of this economic downturn, it is more crucial than ever to have the best web presence possible and to drive potential patients to your website any way you can. There are seven specific techniques dental professionals can employ with a relatively small amount of effort that can have a profound effect on the growth of their practices.

1. Open a Twitter Account – I think by now, we’re all pretty familiar with Twitter, the hottest microblogging site on the internet. Basically Twitter gives you 140 characters to get news out to your followers and drive traffic to your websites and blogs. If you build a good base of followers, Twitter can be an invaluable tool.

So how do you build a following? There are several ways. First, use your email address book to invite your friends, colleagues and patients to follow you. Twitter makes this very easy to do. Just enter the email addresses and Twitter sends out the invitations for you.

Second, there are a variety of tools on the internet to help you build your following. One of the best, in my opinion, is twellow. Twellow allows you to list your business and search for people to follow by category or by geographic location. When you start following people, they will usually reciprocate and follow you back. This then gives their group of followers the opportunity to follow you as well. Before long, you’ll have built a nice network of followers.

So then what? It’s very important for you to learn to engage your followers. Make sure you are tweeting quality, interesting material and not just using your tweets to promote your business. If you tweet good material, it will entice your followers to not only engage you as well, but they will also be intrigued enough to seek out your blogs and websites.

Once you’ve established yourself as a credible “tweeter”, you can start tweeting special offers, discounts, polls, and even contests that will help drive new customers through your doors. Used properly, Twitter is a powerful tool for the dental professional.

2. Build a Facebook Fan page – Built properly, a Facebook fan page becomes a portal to your website and drives patients to your blogs and other social media. A Facebook fanpage is easy to build and can draw new patients to your website, thus leading them to your practice. Post interesting links to articles, post before and after photos of great cases, post events, start discussions about popular and relevant topics, have contests, invite reviews, highlight your practice and so much more. The possibilities are limitless.

Once you’ve built your fan page, you need to get some fans. How do you get fans, you ask? Invite them. If you’re like most of us, you’ve had a personal Facebook page for a long time and have probably acquired quite a network of friends. Invite them to become a fan of your new fan page, and ask them to invite their friends to become fans as well. Between your network of friends and your friends’ friends, you’ll have a nice group of followers in no time. Also, follow other fan pages for businesses in your city and surrounding cities, dentists in other cities, dental labs and other dental product vendors. You should also send the link to your fan page out to all the email addresses in your address book, inviting those contacts to become fans as well. In no time at all, your page will be “liked” by a large group of Facebookers.

Now what? You’ve got to engage your followers. You will get ranked higher in search engines based not only by how many followers you have but by how often they engage with your fan page. Put up surveys, pose questions, list interesting facts, upload photos and videos, and put up links to other credible sources of industry information. Your fans need to interact with you. Offer an incentive if you have to. Take part in Facebook’s advertising and pay-per-click opportunities. You have to put in the work to get your fans to interact. Once you get the ball rolling, your fan page will take on a life of its own, becoming a community of sorts.

3. Create a blog- A blog (short for web log) is like a mini website of sorts and you will use it to establish yourself as an expert in your field. The number of people reading blogs for information on a daily basis is astounding! You’d be amazed by how many people actually rely on blogs as sources of information on a huge variety of topics. If you can dream up a topic, chances are, it’s being blogged about somewhere on the World Wide Web. Blog posts are a great way for you to get content out on the web that will help to establish you as an expert in your field and will also act as a direct portal to your website, again, leading patients to your practice.

Embed direct backlinks to deep pages in your website in order to direct readers to your site and also to increase your website’s ranking in search engines. Backlinks to deep pages within your website from outside sources like blogs have been shown to improve your ranking in search engines and this approach is a great way to optimize your website for that purpose. It’s a good idea to have a feed from your blog to your website so that every blog post gets automatically listed on your website. Your website administrator will know how to establish an RSS feed to make this possible.

There are a variety of ways to create a blog. You can use free websites like blogger to build your blog and post content to it. WordPress also has a free version of its blog building software, but tends to be a bit more complicated than the former. Also, since Google owns blogger, I tend to think it’s your best bet for getting your blog posts ranked by Google. The more content you have getting hits on the web, the higher your ranking will be in search engines like Google, and the more often you post credible content to the web, the more quickly you will become known as an expert in your field.

Your blog is also a direct portal to your website. At the end of every blog post should be your contact information, “for more information call (xxx) xxx-xxxx today” and “visit us on the web at…”. You will also have the chance to list keyword phrases at the end of every blog post. Make these keyword phrases as specific as possible. Instead of using “teeth whitening” use “teeth whitening in the my city area” or “Any County dentist performs teeth whitening in his another city practice”…the more specific the better. Just remember, you are limited to 200 characters per entry on blogger.

I like to use pictures in my blog posts just because it makes them look more professional and eye catching. Write about what you know, be interesting and engaging and you cannot go wrong. You should post to your blog approximately two times per week. Search the web for sample blogs to start coming up with unique ideas for your own blog.

4. Publish articles- I cannot stress this enough. In order to get good ranking in popular search engines, you need to establish yourself as an expert in your field! I know I keep hammering that point, but it really is just that important. You must be an expert in your field to get the web recognition you deserve. One more way to make this happen is to publish articles on the web. Open an account with an article posting website like ezine and start writing. Make your articles interesting and easy to read. Use bullet points to make your articles look more organized. Always post these articles to your practice website as well as the article websites.

Sign up for the weekly newsletters on these article posting websites and they will send you great advice on how to write the best articles. Ezine’s e-newsletters are full of useful information about every aspect of article writing. They will often even supply article templates that you can follow, virtually instructing you step-by-step through the process of writing your article. As with your blog, write about what you know and include keyword phrases and backlinks to your practice website. You should have a goal of writing one article per month to post to one of the websites. You need to put forth the effort. You are an expert in your field! It’s time others knew that.

5. Write press releases- How often do interesting things occur in your office? How often do you learn about new research in your field? How often does a new product come out that changes the way dentists are practicing dentistry? The answer is every day! Why not turn some of these stories into press releases? Any topic that you’ve written an article about can typically be turned into a press release and submitted to a variety of websites that distribute press releases. Some of these sites distribute press releases for free and others charge a fee. Often the sites that charge a per-release fee are the better, more credible websites, but by all means try the free sites as well.

6. Use social bookmarking- to backlink to your website. There are several services on the web that will help you bookmark blog posts, etc. A few examples are digg, stumbleupon, propeller and buzz. These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to social bookmarking. You can bookmark blog posts, you can bookmark articles, you can bookmark Facebook fan page posts and you can even bookmark your web content or your press releases. Anything that has a unique url can be bookmarked.

As with all of the other points discussed, social bookmarking adds to your credibility and helps you achieve the expert status you deserve. Social Bookmarking builds links between your website and other areas on the web, which search engines tend to notice. Social bookmarking also adds the opportunity for any users of social bookmarking sites to click on your information which eventually leads back to your website…and that’s the entire point of this conversation…driving traffic to your website.

7. Create videos- What better way to drive traffic to your website and highlight your work than to distribute a video on the web? Everyone knows that YouTube is one of the top 5 most visited sites on the web, so it begs the question… Why isn’t your work up on YouTube? Videos can be created very quickly, easily and inexpensively. Sony has video production software called Vegas Movie Studio that is incredibly easy to use. If you can create a PowerPoint presentation, you can produce a video. Videos have proven one of the quickest and most effective ways to get noticed by search engines and to get your website bumped up in search engine rankings.

Once you’ve picked a topic and turned it into a short video, I suggest submitting the video to tubemogul. Tubemogul distributes your video to several video sharing sites at once, including YouTube, dailymotion, i2tv and a variety of other websites all with one mouse click. Make sure to end your video with a slide that has your contact information and your website address clearly stated. Also, be sure to post your video to your practice website, your Facebook page and post a link to your video on twitter. To see a sample video, go to YouTube and search for any number of dental topics.

So that’s it in a nutshell-7 ways your dental office can benefit from social media marketing. While this article will help drive traffic to your dental website and hopefully, in turn, send new patients through your door, the rest is up to you. Simply getting new patients in your front door is not enough. Once through your door, it’s up to you to “wow” them with the best customer service imaginable. You want every new patient to turn into your biggest fan (but that’s another article altogether).

Similarly, these 7 steps really work for any small business. Dentistry just happens to be what I know best. Any small business will bring in new customers if it implements the 7 steps talked about in this article. I hope you’ve learned a little something from my article. These are all techniques I have personally used with much success in the dental practice in which I work. I have seen a jump in patients coming to us through the web and that’s all the proof I need. Give it a try.
